The tranquil and secluded 18th century farm of La Grande Métairie is set in 3.5 acres of idyllic terraced gardens, lawns and woodland leading directly into the vast forest of La Guerche.

The buildings (corps de ferme) surround a large flowery courtyard and are approached by a private driveway.

It is situated between Tours and Poitiers, on the D5 between Leugny and La Petite Guerche.

The nearest large town is Chatellerault (20 kms.)


* Lawns, gardens, woodland – ideal for young and old to relax or play!

* Sheltered and enclosed 10 x 4m. naturally chlorinated salt water swimming pool with underwater lighting, in south–facing position. (Steps down to 70cm - 2.10m graduating depth.)


* Tennis court (clay–type).

* Boules, badminton court and croquet lawn.

* Bicycle hire. Fishing in River Creuse.

* Barbecues, terrace furniture and deck-chairs for outdoor eating and sun–bathing.

* The baker delivers daily. Fresh eggs, honey, roasting chickens/ducks from local farm. Home-made jam from La Grande Métairie. Guests welcome to eat fruits etc. when in season.

* Fresh milk, cheese , wine and fruit etc. in fridge on arrival.

* Baby–sitting can be arranged.
