THE AREA
This beautiful untouched region of the Vienne (Poitou-Charentes) and Indre et Loire Valley (Touraine) is ideal walking and cycling territory. There are facilities for horse–riding, canoeing, fishing, painting and bird-watching - barn owls, golden Oriole, & Montagu’s Harrier have been spotted at La Grande Métairie!
The rolling countryside is crossed by winding rivers, bordered by meadows abundant with wild flowers - rare birds and butterflies in profusion.
In this rich pastoral landscape lie some of the greatest castles of the “Garden of France” – Amboise, Chenonceaux, Villandry, as well as the lesser known Montpoupon, Loches, Azay-le–Ferron, Touffou to name but a few.
Restaurants of this area are justly renowned as are the fine wines – e.g. Chinon – only 1/2 hour away.
The climate benefits from the mild and warm weather associated with regions south of the river Loire. And all this with your own pool, tennis court and peaceful gardens!
